The Project was implemented by the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) with financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The Project paved the way for the eventual repair of the Bigte-Novaliches Aqueduct No. 5(BNAQ-5) and the construction of BNAQ-6 that ensured continues provision of domestic water supply from the Angat Reservoir to Metro Manila through the preparation of feasibility study and preliminary engineering designs of the repair and new construction projects with a total length of 11.5 kilometers. The AWUIP was implemented in two phases: 1) Construction of the 5.5-kilometer bypass tunnel (BNAQ-6) and repair of BNAQ-5.;
CEST, Inc. as associate firm conducted the poverty and social analysis and the assessment of land acquisition and resettlement program; assisted in the conduct of information dissemination and public consultations, preparation of the feasibility study, and the preliminary engineering designs; prepared the environmental impact assessment report and helped facilitate the preparation of documentary requirements for the issuance of environmental compliance certificate (ECC).
