Boracay Environmental Infrastructure Project,
1996 – 2003
“Ensuring Pristine and Safe Water for this Tourist Destination”
The Project was implemented by the Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA) with funding support from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). It was instrumental in the establishment of the necessary water supply, sanitation and sewerage (including a 3 kilometer submarine outfall), solid waste disposal, and drainage systems infrastructure in Boracay Island including the formulation of a Flood Control Master Plan which continue to benefit both the island’s communities and tourist establishments and businesses up to this day.
CEST, Inc. as associate firm provided assistance in the review and updating of the project feasibility study; conducted hydrogeological, hydrographic, and topographic surveys; prepared obstruction/encroachment and flood severity maps; prepared the detailed designs of the water supply, sanitation and sewerage, solid waste disposal, and drainage systems; construction supervision of all civil and structural works; and assisted in the bidding of contractors and preparation of operation and maintenance manuals.
