The Project was the continuation of the Study on Long-Term Sustainability of the Makati South Sewerage System commissioned by Manila Water Company, Inc. (MWCI) in 2006 that sought the improvement of the existing sewer network and the Magallanes Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) as well as the construction of a new STP for the Makati sewer system. The site for the new STP was secured by MWCI in 2009 which paved the way for the resumption of the Project.
CEST, Inc. as associate firm conducted field investigations that included baseline data collection and review, sewage flow measurements, water quality sampling, and drainage inventory; evaluated urban development trends and patterns through the review of land use and zoning plans, road network, and drainage systems; prepared sewage flow projections and assisted in options analysis which included system integration strategies, tertiary treatment, sludge management, and wastewater reuse; supervised the conduct of topographic surveys; prepared the detailed engineering designs of the sewer network and pumping stations, and the preliminary engineering design of the proposed new STP for a design-build contract package; prepared the tender documents and provided assistance in the tendering process.
